When we identify that our life is not in the direction we choose – when we are faced with difficulties that seem unbearable to us, and we feel lost, when we are faced with strong emotional pain, psychotherapy emerges as a privileged place to talk about these issues.
There are many people who believe or think that looking for a psychologist is assuming you are “insane”, so you, being “normal”, have never felt overwhelmed, anxious, sad, anguished, confused, lost? With relationship problems, dissatisfaction with professional, personal, family life, difficulty adapting and even losses can be talked about.
A listening space, where you can talk about everything that wears you down and sometimes makes it impossible to lead a lighter life.
How is the work of the psychologist? – Offer a unique listening space. A journey that the patient goes through and the psychologist will respect the personal history of each one, as well as their values, desires and dreams.
During the process, psi's role is that of a facilitator, so that you can look yourself in the face and express yourself, considering that your symptoms can be understood from the affective ties of your experiences and your relationships with yourself and with the environment social.
People question why not talk about my frustrations to a friend rather than a stranger? – Well, a family member or friend is someone who is part of your life story, is not able to listen to you without creating hopes about you, without judging, without relating your situation to theirs.
Even on those subjects that are more difficult to talk about, the psychologist is prepared to listen to you, help you, intervene, stimulate your abilities and understand how unique you are, and how you can progress by developing new ways to deal with your emotions.
Getting psychotherapy is an investment in yourself.
And the cost of psychotherapy? – Just like the doctor, physiotherapist, dentist, nutritionist and many other professionals, the psychologist is a professional who has studied and continues to study, has a welcoming, safe place and makes use of instruments and tools that are sometimes not measurable, but which do your services have value. Such value can be compared to the cost of a trip to the beauty salon, the cost of a dinner or pub with friends, etc. However, it may represent little compared to what you can achieve.
Briefly, most of our frustrations occur because we do not realize how the mind that inhabits us works or we do not understand why we function in a certain way.
Finally, the condition for seeking psychotherapy is to realize that something distresses you.
